Raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Rob spent most of his youth studying art, eventually winning a gold medal at the São Paulo Young Artist of the Year competition. After forfeiting his artistic interests for a stable career, a now retired Rob spends his time creating abstract art, continuing to develop his own style, making up for the years he spent in the absence of art.
Rob takes interest in; the shapes of the folds of cloth; the human body; rock formations; organic life; and the shadows and light associated with them. In his practice as an artist, he likes to explore the portrayal of a fantasy land in which these shapes float against an abstract background. Through abstraction, Rob is able to translate paint into fantastical art worlds for his viewers to enter.
