Jo Lillywhite: Landscapes of Colour

Join us 2nd October - 16th November 2024 to see a beautiful collection of original paintings and prints from local artist Jo Lillywhite. From 5:30pm on Friday 25th October, please join us for an evening of art, wine, cheese, and music with artist Jo Lillywhite. Jo works predominantly with acrylic and pastel, painting colourful landscapes on canvas. Jo will be giving a talk at 6:30pm, to give us an idea of her art practice and process. Melissa Laurence: Floral Reverie

Join us 21st Aug-28th Sept 2024 to see a joyful collection of oil paintings by Melissa Laurence. Originally hailing from the remote Australian outback, Melissa is a self-taught artist who now calls the local village of Hermitage here in the UK her home. Melissa paints joyous floral still lives with the most vibrant colour palette. With a real sense of fun, her artworks are guaranteed to make you happy!

Matt Emmett: Forgotten Heritage

The exhibition runs 18th May-29th June, with a SPECIAL EVENT: join us for an evening of wine, cheese, and music with Matt Emmett, an intrepid local photographer, who highlights the worlds bygone architecture. He's both nationally and internationally recognised, having won many awards which you can see on his artist page. Matt will be doing an artist talk during the event. Date TBC.

Mary Louise Coulouris: Human Ecologies

SPECIAL EVENT: Friday 5th April. Join us from 5:30pm to celebrate the exhibition with the artist's daughter, Saro Wallace! Saro will be doing a talk about the artist at 6:30pm. Limited edition prints and originals. Mary Louise Coulouris (1939-2011) worked in a range of media during her prolific career, with studios in London (1962-1976), Scotland (1976-1999) and Hydra, Greece (2000-2011). Of partly Greek heritage, born in New York and growing up in Hampstead, she trained at Chelsea College of Art in the late 1950s and then Slade to 1960, specialising in printmaking under the tutorship of Anthony Gross and William Coldstream.

Cat Croxford: an Exhibition and an Event

SPECIAL EVENT: 23/2/24 Join us from 5:30pm to celebrate the exhibition with the artist! Cat is a fantastic landscape painter, who specialises in acrylic on canvas. She paints the Berkshire Downs, and South Oxfordshire Chilterns, so you'll likely see a piece of local woodland you may recognise.

Sir Eduardo Paolozzi Exhibition

Born in 1924, Paolozzi is appreciated by many as a pioneer of the Pop Art movement. Some of Paolozzi's most famous work resides in Tottenham Court Road underground station, where many mosaic murals cover platforms, passages and escalator entrances. We're exhibiting a suite of limited edition thermographic prints and lithographs from Paolozzi's 'Underground Design Folio X', which showcases designs for the mosaics in Tottenham Court Road tube station. See below a side by side of the mosaic in situ, and the design singed by Paolozzi on display at The Caversham Picture Framer. Drop in to see!

Emily Gillmor: an Exhibition and an Event

SPECIAL EVENT: 1/12/23 Join us from 5:30pm to celebrate the exhibition with the artist! Emily Gillmor is a screenprint artist. She takes inspiration from her immediate surroundings, producing confident line drawings. She translates these in the print studio into gorgeous, vibrant screen prints, retaining the strong line from her drawings.

Original Artist Posters

See the likes of Hockney, Matisse, Picasso, Miro, Chagall, Braque, and Leger; all on your doorstep in Caversham. These 20th century posters were printed at the time of the exhibition, to advertise it around the city. The posters that have made it in good condition to today are artworks in their own right. Owning one is like owning a piece of art history.

Roger is a brilliant local stone carver who creates intricate sculptures from limestone, sandstone, polyphant, and rock chalk. Roger is also a collage artist, using imagery from magazines to create surreal and witty scenes.

Anja Percival is a Durham based printmaker. We will be presenting 10 of her beautiful Limited Edition Copperplate Etchings. Anja uses varying techniques to build tone and line, including etching, wax resist, and aquatint. The result is the creation of stunning atmospheric light within her prints.

Glory Samjolly is a portrait artist who is challenging our traditional narration of history and connecting her sense of self with a more nuanced past. She creates beautiful paintings and limited edition prints of black people of the past with a modern twist.

Sally Castle: an Exhibition and a Special Event

SPECIAL EVENT: 20/09/22 Join us from 5:30pm to celebrate the exhibition with the artist! Sally Castle is an amazing local artist who produces limited edition linocut prints. She takes inspiration from the surrounding towns and countryside, and from all of the projects she's been commissioned to illustrate. Sally’s linoprints are made by carving lines into a lino (rubbery) block using a special incising tool. Ink is layered over the remaining surface, then printed onto paper.

Berenice Sydney: Dancing With Colour

Berenice Sydney was a British artist who produced a substantial body of work from 1964 until her death in 1983. Berenice was born in Surrey in 1944. From a young age, she studied ballet and classical guitar. You can see the movement of dance and music within her paintings. Berenice explored ideas of abstraction from the likes of Picasso and Matisse, before developing her own unique style that reflected her passion for movement and rhythm. She participated in over 40 exhibitions before her tragic and untimely death of an asthma attack at the age of 39. The legacy she left is a truly amazing collection of artworks.

Super Xiao Ma: 9 Gates of JZ

Symbolism, Symmetry, Structure: Super Xiao Ma is a spiritual artist who creates works based on personal experiences, and reflections on emotional events. The 9 gates of JZ are the 9 ancient gates of the city of Jingzhou, where Super Xiao Ma spent time living. The artworks were created in a Jingzhou café, where the artist used the china tea cups and saucers to draw the concentric circles within the work. Super Xiao Ma uses techniques like the Golden Ratio to make his works incredibly visually appealing.

Alex Foster: Just Thinking?

Alex is a local painter and printmaker who explores new ideas and symbolism within his work. Predominantly a figurative artist, most of the artworks are monoprints that explore the properties of colour or conversely are linocuts that are devoid of colour. Recently he has started to create painted pieces again.

Grace Boyle: Well Behaved Women Don’t Make History

Grace Boyle presents a selection of beautifully designed limited edition prints. Creating collage prints using photos of people and portraiture as the core of her designs, these pieces of art create a story using carefully curated imagery. Grace has sought to understand the subtleties and impact collage can have on her artistic process, developing her own personal digital collage style, drawing on the emotional durability of this medium.
