Smile is a Surrey-based artist and sculptor whose work spans a variety of media and disciplines. Coming to art later in life, he has developed a multifaceted practice grounded in curiosity, observation, and continual learning. Smile has attended weekend and summer workshops at the Royal Academy of Arts and completed three terms of the Intensive Year programme at the Royal Drawing School in Shoreditch.
Smile's work explores themes of transformation, renewal, and the hidden value of things often overlooked. Drawing on reclaimed and repurposed materials, he creates sculptures that celebrate resilience and the possibility of new beginnings. Smile is drawn to the stories held within weathered objects and natural forms, revealing beauty not despite their history, but because of it. His work invites us to consider how growth can emerge from hardship, and how what appears discarded may still hold extraordinary potential.
