Learn how to create a repeating pattern by hand, using a simple but effective drawing approach. Then transfer your image and carve a bespoke lino-printing block to produce your own unique fabrics.
There will be the opportunity to experiment with different colour ways, exploring the impact of colour upon design by using a variety of coloured fabrics and inks.
All materials and equipment needed, including fabric, will be provided.
You will complete the day with a variety of exceptional, hand printed fabrics ready to be made into cushion covers, bags and more.
Please bring with you:
An apron, sketchbook and pencil, ideas, images or pattern samples that you would like to use as the starting point for your fabric design.
About the Tutor:
Cath Baldwin is a well- known local artist and educator who has been making and exhibiting work for over 20 years. In the main, her art practice focuses on the many forms and possibilities of print, with a particular interest in making printmaking more accessible to others. Cath spent many years teaching at local schools, colleges and universities and uses the knowledge gained by continuing to deliver workshops and private tuition.
