WILDERS FOLLY - READING
On the outskirts of Reading sits an almost 300 year old brick tower. Originally built as a symbol of love between two local people, Reverend Henry Wilder and Joan Thoyts. The line of sight between the two family homes was obscurred by a hill at Sulham Woods and so the tower was built on the hill where it could be seen from both. The tower these days is a ruin that silently stands guard on the outskirts of the town. This image was taken in July 2020 when comet Neowise made its closest approach to earth.
