About Francesca

Francesca completed a Fine Art Foundation Course at Oxford before specialising in painting at Brighton University, where she achieved a first class degree in Fine Art Painting.

Early influences came with her work as a scenic painter with the BBC, where her technical skill and flexibility of approach was honed under immense time pressures to fulfil the diverse creative visions of the directors on set. Frances then concentrated on developing her career as a fine artist and has since enjoyed great commercial and critical success. Her work is widely exhibited across the United Kingdom and Europe and her paintings are in private collections around the world.

When I close my eyes I can re- imagine certain places and the memories attached to them. I call these ‘scapes’ either land- scapes, sea -scapes, sky-scapes, where I can forge an “escape” from reality to where the body and mind can settle to find the peace and happiness from within.

I see sounds, like vision-scapes based on the music I am listening to. It is a visceral and transcendent experience where imagery is created by the senses of the eyes, ears, heart and mind.

Using the subconscious and working intuitively, I translate what I hear into a visual memory of the landscapes I have been to along with the emotions and atmosphere attached.

In doing so, I hope that the viewer feels a personal connection, a transference of feeling that can be made between myself, the artist and the viewer. Through my paintings the invisible becomes visible.
