SINKING RADAR STATION - ISLE OF SHEPPEY
Back in the 1950s this concrete radar station used to sit atop the nearby sea cliffs. One of three such structures on the eastern tip of the Isle of Sheppey, over the last 70 years coastal erosion has seen them all make their way down the crumbling cliffs and onto the beaches below. The fact they are constructed of solid concrete means they have all survived the rough journey and now are slowly sinking into the sand under their immense weight. They now lie about 30 feet from the cliff.
