Ronnie Cruwys is a full-time artist living and working in the Clyde Valley – a place known as ‘The Fruit Basket of Scotland’. With its rare microclimate and fruit-growing heritage dating back 900 years, this area caught my imagination from the moment we arrived.
Our orchard is a restless tangle of growth: exuberant, vital and ever-changing. There are a few tended fruit trees but the rest is a mosaic habitat of wild flora and fauna; beautiful in all its imperfection and an endless call to me to capture its spirit through drawing and painting.
