Helen D'Alton

About Helen D'Alton

Helen D’Alton lives in Cambridgeshire where she works and teaches with her husband David King in their purpose built studio.

She has always painted a wide variety of subjects using watercolour and mixed media, but during Lock Down started to sculpt animals and birds.

Helen D'Alton was surprised to find the combination of changing medium inspiring and liberating. Her sculptures have a strong emotional and personal resonance with her. She particularly sees hares as a mystical subject full of character and majesty.

Her construction process unusually includes the hares being fired three times to achieve their beautiful depth of colour.
