Class topic: Exploring Autumn through Colour, Texture, and Mark-Making

Guest Tutors: Francesca Vullo and Jonathan Llewellyn

Explore the changing atmosphere of autumn through colour, texture and mark-making. Inspired by mist, rain, falling leaves and the warmth within colder days, we’ll consider autumn as a season of change and reflection. Experiment with drawing, painting, monoprinting and gel printing to create richly layered, atmospheric prints to take home.

Drawing inspiration from Turner’s atmospheric landscapes, Hockney’s vibrant seasonal colour and Joan Mitchell’s expressive mark-making, we’ll explore different ways of seeing, feeling and responding to autumn — using these artists as starting points to inspire your own individual creative response.

About the Tutors: Francesca and Jonathan bring together complementary backgrounds in fine art, design and architecture. Francesca is a professional artist, lecturer and creative therapist, while Jon is an architect, artist and urban sketcher. Together they share a passion for creativity as a source of mindfulness, reflection and wellbeing, encouraging everyone to discover and enjoy their own creative potential.
