Description: Greek Yaya, 2000. Characterised as in some of Coulouris’other works on paper of this period by an abstract painted border, this work was created and first exhibited on the Greek island of Hydra. A moment’s repose is evidently captured for the subject, likely a neighbour, following the outdoor chores of stacking wood and tending the vegetable patch - activities regularly carried out by hardy grandmothers all over Greece today.
