Description: Pomegranates and Grapes, 2006. This use of tiled exterior surfaces to set off still lives in the Greek sun and shadow recalls Sliced Cucumber and Tiles (2004). The tiles are not simply a background but an engaging object in themselves, their geometry providing a pleasing contrast with the rounded natural forms. The humorously haphazard nature of this and similar assemblages (presenting random objects like a mushroom, museum ticket or half-pomegranate as objets) contrasts with serious focus on form and light in these works.
