Description: Sowing Seed, 1979. Another aspect of working lives in lowland Scotland is shown in this rare 1970s etching. It adopts an almost overhead landscape viewpoint, with the use of monochrome ink tones suggesting a greyed-over day in the fertile Forth valley near Coulouris’ studio. Human work fits into and takes its place within the natural landscape, the solitary nature of the anonymous farmer contrasting with the busy community of gulls overhead.
