Description: Hull: Gutting Dogfish, 1968. In 1967-8 Coulouris received a grant to undertake residencies among the kind of working communities which fascinated her - here the Hull fisheries. Her finely detailed and colourful etchings document the energy and stark beauty to be found in now-lost work environments – whether wet decks, the cleaning sheds, as here, or the blocky, massive shapes of the ice store. The choice of monochrome tints here empahsises the indoors, concentrated and skilled nature of cleaning the catch.
