Part of a series of Greek works, some at massive scale on canvas (e.g. Pines and Sea, 2001), this semiabstract emphasises the puffy silhouettes of the pines and exaggerates their green colour against the blue sea. The leaning angles of the trees, coastline and wall meet as though the viewer is encountering them on one of the daily walks the artist liked to take in the unspoiled landscape of Hyra, where cars are forbidden.
